1. Are metal structures only for residential use?

No. Prefabricated steel structures are highly versatile and are widely utilized across residential, agricultural, commercial, and industrial properties. They can be perfectly adapted to:

• Expand operational workspaces

2. What is the difference between a carport and a metal garage?

A carport is an open or semi-open structure designed primarily to provide shade and protect vehicles or equipment from the elements. Conversely, a metal garage is a completely enclosed structure that can feature:

• Full walls
• Roll-up doors
• Windows
• Walk-in doors
• Security accessories

3. What are the maximum dimensions of a prefabricated metal building?

Standard steel structures are manufactured in common widths ranging from 12 to 30 feet and can be built to virtually any length a customer requires.

• Clear-span engineering allows structures up to 60 feet wide without interior columns.
• Customized commercial and industrial buildings can reach up to 80 feet wide.

4. How are the dimensions of the structure measured?

Dimensions are defined using the Width x Length x Height format (in feet).

• Width: Measured from the outer edge to the outer edge of the base rails.
• Length: Roofs include a 6-inch overhang on both front and back ends. The base rail measures one foot less than the nominal roof length.
• Height: Measured using the side leg height, not the roof ridge.

5. Can sizes be customized or can walls be added to an open structure in the future?

Yes. Structures can be custom-built regarding width, length, and height. You can also customize:

• Walk-in door placement
• Windows
• Colors
• Roof styles

Additionally, many open structures can be enclosed later by adding side or end panels.

Note: Additions or modifications after delivery are typically subject to a manufacturer service call fee.

6. What is a “lean-to” and what is it used for?

A lean-to is a sloped side extension attached directly to the main structure. Common uses include:

• Additional storage space
• Vehicle protection
• Covered side porches
• Extra workspace

Site Preparation, Surfaces, and Installation

7. What type of base or surface is required to install a metal structure?

Our buildings can be installed on almost any level surface, including:

• Compacted dirt
• Gravel
• Asphalt
• Concrete slabs

For enclosed garages, workshops, and commercial buildings, a concrete slab is highly recommended.

8. Is a concrete surface mandatory for installation?

No. Structures can be securely anchored directly onto leveled dirt or gravel.

If using concrete:

• Minimum 4″ thickness for standard structures.
• Minimum 6″ thickness for commercial buildings.
• Enclosed buildings require exact slab dimensions for proper alignment.

9. What kind of vehicular access does the installation crew require?

Installation crews use large trucks and trailers. Customers must provide safe and clear access.

Please notify us in advance of:

• Narrow roads
• Low tree branches
• Low-hanging utility lines
• Unstable ground
• Restricted-access areas

10. How long does the delivery and installation of the structure take?

Installation time depends on the size and complexity of the building.

• Small open structures: a few hours.
• Large garages and commercial buildings: several days.
• Average delivery and installation timeframe: 3–4 weeks after order approval.

Technical Aspects, Materials, and Durability

11. Which roof style is most recommended?

The Vertical Roof Style is the premium and most recommended option because it:

• Promotes natural water runoff
• Prevents debris accumulation
• Handles snow loads more efficiently
• Requires less maintenance
• Extends building lifespan

12. Are there any length restrictions for Regular or Boxed Eave roofs?

Yes. Regular and Boxed Eave roofs use horizontal panels and are limited to a maximum length of 35 feet.

• Buildings 35 feet or longer require a Vertical Roof.
• Horizontal roofs over 35 feet limit workmanship warranty to 30 days.

13. What is the difference between 12-Gauge and 14-Gauge steel?

• 14-Gauge: Industry standard (2½” x 2½” tubing), lightweight and economical.
• 12-Gauge: Thicker and stronger (2¼” x 2¼” tubing), recommended for large buildings and harsh climates.

14. What materials are included in the published “base price”?

The base price includes:

• 14-gauge galvanized steel framing
• 29-gauge roof panels
• Truss spacing every 5 feet on center

Base pricing covers only the roof structure. The following are quoted separately:

• Side walls
• Front and rear end walls
• Doors

15. Do metal structures withstand extreme storms or heavy snow?

Yes. Ratings vary based on certification and installation surface.

Standard Uncertified Buildings

• Dirt, gravel, or asphalt: 40 MPH wind / 25 PSF snow.
• Concrete: 70 MPH wind / 25 PSF snow.

Certified Buildings

• Dirt, gravel, or asphalt: 70 MPH wind / 30 PSF snow.
• Concrete: 130 MPH wind / 30 PSF snow.

16. Are engineering plans included?

No. Engineering plans are available at an additional cost and pricing varies according to local requirements.

17. Do these metal structures require a lot of maintenance?

No. Galvanized steel structures require very little maintenance.

Recommended maintenance includes:

• Inspecting anchors periodically
• Removing leaves and debris
• Keeping drainage areas clear

18. Can the structure be insulated or equipped with electrical and plumbing services?

Yes. Metal buildings can be upgraded with:

• Thermal insulation
• Electrical systems
• Plumbing systems
• Interior finishes

All improvements should comply with local building codes and be completed by qualified contractors.

19. Is a deposit required to start an order, and is it refundable?

Yes. A 15% deposit is required to:

Deposits are non-refundable in the event of order cancellation.

20. Do I need to apply for building permits for my carport or building?

The customer is responsible for:

• Obtaining permits

21. How long is my warranty?

You have 30 days from the installation date to report:

• Installation concerns
• Assembly issues
